Villa Collecimino is a spacious holiday property, which can be rented as 2 separate apartments or together, located in 3.5 acres of orchards, olive groves and agricultural land, in the hamlet of San Giorgio (featured in Channel 4's series of 'A Place in the Sun'), on top of Collecimino hill 550 metres above sea-level, with stunning panoramic views of Abruzzo's Gran Sasso and Maiella mountain ranges, and, to the north-east, the Adriatic Sea.
It is 5 minutes' walk from an 'agriturismo' offering delicious meals from home-grown produce, 10 minutes' drive from the village of Cesi, which has a large supermarket and a bar/cafe and a short drive from many other restaurants and 15 minutes' drive from two medieval hilltop towns - Penne and Castiglione Messer Raimondo.
Each apartment has balconies/terraces big enough for dining/relaxing/sunbathing or for just enjoying the beautiful views of Abruzzo. We are ideally placed for both the Adriatic coast and the mountains, being only 30 minutes' drive from each
Villa Collecimino is about 45 minutes' drive from Abruzzo's International Airport in Pescara and 2.5 hours from Rome. You can walk/ski in the mountains in the morning, and swim and sunbathe on the sandy Adriatic beaches in the afternoon. Or explore the historic towns and villages, sail from Pescara's award-winning marina, take the ferry to the beautiful Tremiti Islands or even to Croatia, or just enjoy a glass of Montepulciano d' Abruzzo while watching the constantly changing mountain views.
Villa Collecimino, in the hamlet of San Giorgio, is set in 3.5 acres of land including garden, olive grove, fields, etc. with parking for cars. It is situated 550 metres above sea level in a hamlet which has regular visits from a mobile baker, butcher and fishmonger. Nearby Castiglione M.R. (15" drive) has additional shops, including an excellent butchers and fresh pasta shop, as well as a bank and post office. Also, Penne (15" drive) has a wider range of shops, lovely cafe/bars and a lovely old medieval section.
Pescara International Airport is 40-45 minutes' away. Inexpensive flights are available to Pescara from London Stansted with Ryanair. Alternatively, you can fly from Stansted with Ryanair to Ancona which is about a 2.5 hour drive from us. Or we are just over 2 hours from Rome, (with many more flights including flights with Easyjet), linked directly by motorway - through the mountains - to Pescara.
Car hire is essential. We recommend hiring at the airport in Pescara, Ancona or Rome.
